2 people dead, 4 injured in I-15 crash

GREAT FALLS — Two people died and four others were injured in a four-vehicle crash on i-15 on Monday. The crash happened at about 1:15 p.m. near mile marker 344, just south of the Ledger exit.

The Montana Highway Patrol says that was southbound on I-15 and entered into an area dense with smoke from a nearby controlled burn.

The driver slowed down to about 25 miles per hour and was rear-ended by a second vehicle. The impact caused a ripple affect, affecting four vehicles in all.

Two females from Columbia Falls in a Pontiac sedan died at the scene; they were 20 and 17 years old.

Authorities have not yet released the names of the two who died. The current condition of the four injured people is not available.

(1st REPORT, 3:21 p.m.) Emergency crews have responded to a crash along I-15 near Conrad.

The Montana Highway Patrol reports that it happened just before 1:30 p.m. on Monday near mile marker 344, just south of the Ledger exit and several miles north of Conrad.

At this point, the MHP says that at least one person has been injured.

A witness told MTN News at about 3 p.m. that southbound I-15 is completely blocked as emergency responders work to clear the scene, and vehicles are being detoured. Drivers should expect delays.
